Description

The Austin Runners Club hosts its 30th Annual Decker Challenge. This famously hilly race will be held at beautiful Decker Lake. This challenging course is always a favorite in the Distance Challenge Series because of the rural scenery, hilly course route, and high-quality long-sleeved technical fabric race shirts.

This year the course has been increased slightly to provide a half marathon route with the Double Decker providing a full marathon! All finishers will receive a medal. Those competing in the Distance Challenge series have the option of running the half marathon or the full marathon, in which the first loop of the course will count towards the Distance Challenge scoring.

Water stops are provided every other mile. There is clothing drop along the course and portable toilets at multiple locations along the course.

"I look forward to racing Decker every year. The course is very challenging but I find the rolling roads and wide green pastures of the course to be peaceful as well as empowering. This is one race you will finish and feel like you really earned your breakfast!"
Desiree Ficker, female open winner 2006 Decker Challenge 20K

"ARC did it right, a race for runners by runners.”
Alex Moore, male open winner 2006 Decker Challenge 20K

"For 28 years the Decker Challenge has been the stalwart of the Austin running community. Part race, part training run, but always tough, the Decker Challenge provides an unparalleled opportunity to suffer in all the best ways. & with the reinstatement of the Double Decker, the race returns in all its ragged glory. This year's race is an absolute don't miss!"
Steve Sisson, Founder & Head Coach, Rogue Training Systems

"Decker is perfect if you are training for Boston or new AT&T. It is my favorite race because of the course. I highly recommend the race for anyone training for AT&T."
Gilbert Tuhabonye, Founder & Head Coach, Gilbert's Gazelles
